Capacity: 6 students in 3 pairs
Beginning in fall semester 2022 the format of GCMS Basics training will change in an effort to be more flexible for students. The preliminary instruction, which heretofore has been done in a group setting, will be replaced by two instructional documents - one dealing with theoretical and practical aspects of method development, and the other dealing with software. Students will study these documents and must pass a quiz on each one prior to the scheduled hands-on training sessions.
Three cohorts (of one or two students each) can be accommodated in the hands-on/laboratory training sessions. Interested students must specify which of the three cohorts they wish to attend and must commit to attending all sessions for that cohort; absences for reasons other than emergencies will be cause for the student to be dismissed from the training cohort. (While experienced and/or well prepared students may complete the training in four to six sessions, typically six to eight sessions will be needed. No training sessions will be scheduled during St Pat's break nor spring break.)
The training sessions will be as follows:
Cohort 1: Mondays and Wednesdays 9am-12 noon, beginning 10 October
Cohort 2: Mondays and Wednesdays 1pm-4pm, beginning 10 October
Cohort 3: Thursdays and Fridays 9am-12 noon, beginning 13 October
Well-prepared students should be able to complete the training within 6-7 sessions.
Students interested in receiving GCMS training should email Dr. Leigh to indicate which cohort they wish to join.
